Former campsite with barrier, full services and electricity paid for at a machine. The mixed sex toilets are clean but have no paper, seats or soap. There’s a 16 mile round trip cycle ride on roads to Boyardville which has a lovely beach and a view of the famous building from the TV show, Fort Boyard. A 15 minute walk to town, most of which can be done along the nearby beach. The beach was good for dogs off season but there was not much going on in town at this time of year. The Hotel bar off the town square allowed dogs in but was expensive for drinks. We wouldn’t go out of our way to visit again at this time of yearView all reviews by weeksd
This aire is on a former campsite and has lots of hardstanding pitches. cost is 10.50 per night (AUG 16) inc elec. Barrier and pay machine to enter/exit. Nice and spacious and close to beach and pretty town. There are still shower and toilet blocks on site (although not a campsite standard they are still handy to have). Each eve the Oyster van arrived selling fresh oysters and the bread van came in the morningsView all reviews by ariley2000
Popular aire that was once as campsite, close to a small but long beach on the northern side of I'le D'Oleron, although there is no view of the beach or sea, despite them being only 50m away. Access is via a security barrier where you are issued with a ticket that contains an access and exit code.View all reviews by admin
There are a couple of water points dotted around and plenty of hookup points although they are only 5 or 6 amps and trip easily, and once tripped there is no way of resetting them. There is a toilet and shower block but was little run down.
The town is a 10/15 minute walk away or 5 minutes by bike. Met another English family there who we enjoyed a good nights chat and drink with, otherwise we were a little disappointed with this area of the island as large areas are flat with not much in the way of scenery. On leaving we drove to the other side of the island vis Saint Pierre and this seemed livelier and more scenic but also much windier.
