It was in Ploudalmezeau that the oil tanker "Amoco Cadiz" broke down in 1978, causing a terrible oil spill. Time and combined efforts have repaired the damage and the small port has regained all its charm. One of the supertanker's anchors, however, remains clearly visible on the quays, a reminder of this real ecological tragedy.
