Very friendly staff and locals. Food excellent and plentiful. Big carpark, with loads of room. There was at least 5 other motorhome/campers when we stopped. Only about 5mins off jtn 29a of M1. Will definitely be back.

Large open car park, ehu available, not far from motorway and easy to find and access.

The food we had deserves a special mention. We had a sharing starter which had chosen brie wedges, chicken goujons, scampi and cod bites. Apart from the scampi the rest was homemade freshly cooked. There was enough to feed both of us just with this and we had a Main course ordered. The main was again all homemade and all was well presented. Incredible value for money.

All the staff were excellent.

We would definitely stop here again.

Excellent real ale pub with home cooked food. Great selection of beers. One we enjoyed was a charity beer with £2.50 from each pint going to a local care home charity. 20 minutes walk to the 'walking together' statues in memory of Markham colliery pit disasters

Our 1st motorhome pubstop whilst wildcamping, we've always gone for the 'Searchforsites' wildcamp spots in the past and left several reviews. However, after finding this little gem I think we may change tactics in the future. Great real ale pub, serving lovely food and friendly staff and customers alike. The carpark is large and although there is a bit of traffic noise, is otherwise quiet and level. It is still only £5 for EHU but as we didn't need it, there was no other charge to stay the night

I took a bit of a risk taking my fiancé to a pub carpark for her first camping trip. I needed of worried as we had a great time. If you like real ale then you'll love this CAMRA award winning place. Very friendly staff, the food was great and the service excellent. Toilets are only available during opening hours so your best to you own. Its beside the road so there is some noise and street lighting. For free its a great stopover and handy from the M1.

Good place to stop as just a couple of miles off the motorway. Didn't make it im time for food but great selection of beer, friendly staff and flat areas in the car park. Small field next to car park to let the dog have a run.

What a lucky find? The staff were helpful and knew their real ales. We arrived too late on a Sunday and missed the food which finishes at three o'clock. However, we were able to enjoy a restful overnight stopover and some fine ale! Will definitely call again.

Chesterfield's CAMRA pub of the year again. This is just a short walk from me so I just thought I'd mention a couple of things, although I've never needed to pitch up for the night (it's staggering distance home across a field). The selection of ales, porters, ciders etc is exceptionally good and the beer menu changes regularly. They really know how to keep and pour a good ale here. Food is okay (slightly better than ping and fling but don't go expecting gastro delights), staff and locals are friendly. While it is on a busy-ish road, it's well set back and you are a stone's throw from the countryside. It's minutes from the Trans-Pennine Way, so great for dog walking and cycling and well located for Chesterfield the Peaks and Sheffield.

It's free.. what more could you want? Well, there is more, and it's all good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was with a friend who is very CAMRA oriented and he was over the moon at the varied selection of ales, lagers and ciders etc. The large car park is quite sloped towards the pub, which isn't a problem as the obvious place to park a motorhome is at the far bottom end of the car park, where it flattens out. The pub is a couple of miles from Jnc 29A of the M1 so is easy to get to. The interior decor of the pub easily dates back to 1976.. which is more interesting than a problem. I'd happily go back as it was a nice experience.

A little gem nothing to do here just a pub with a big car park and dog friendly in the Tap room (not the posh end) but the food was really nice and quite cheap, the locals are friendly people also. The EHU is at the bottom of the car park near the fence only 2 ports though so phone them first for a spot, Although my ratings are low this spot is ideal for just passing through for an overnighter. we went in december it might be better in summer . will be going again
