After an interesting drive up the col, it was worth the effort. At just over 2000m the air was crisp and clear, but warm enough during the day time in April. By 6pm all the walkers had gone and we were the only ones their except a few cows, horses and fantastic Mr Fox who came and sat outside sniffing for food! Frost overnight. Great dog walks both sided of the mountains. No services … leave no trace!

Large carpark looks like used as a ski centre during winter. Flat gravel, no facilities but FREE. Very quiet and dark night. Great for walkers as lots of marked trails.

Big car park at the sumit of the mountain. Fairly busy during the day but very quiet at night. The road from the eastern side can be a bit tight in places but if you take your time the views are spectacular. An ideal overnight stop if you’re venturing imto the Sierra Nevada.
