Egans is located about one mile from the point where Wicklow, Wexford and Carlow meet. It sits in a picturesque area in the South East of Ireland. The Egan name was added to the premises in 1912. Previous to this, the bar was owned by the Doyle family. In the Griffith’s Evaluation records, it is noted that they were living in Park prior to the 1840’s. There is a strong possibility that Peter Doyle’s family had lived in the towns-land before this time. In this case, it makes Egans a contender to be one of the oldest family run country pubs in the country
