Mostar spans the Neretva River, was developed in the 15th & 16th centuries as an Ottoman frontier town it is known for its old Turkish houses and Old Bridge, Stari Most from where the town takes its name.
In the 1990s conflict, most of the town & Old Bridge was destroyed, but the Old Bridge was rebuilt and much of the Town restored or rebuilt & is now UNESCO listed.
